Would this type of online lottery be illegal?

I’m setting up a website that enables people play a lottery, but instead of money they win something like an Ipod. The proceeds go to me. Would this be illegal?

I’m sure it would be, curious how you think random people would give you money without anyway to ensure that they could actually win a prize or not.
