The only constant is change in life
We have the fact that the MVP award is announced and approved before the NBA playoffs are over. It was decided before of the first round is even more! What is the result? It was announced on Wednesday that Steve Nash will win his second MVP award.
Now I am not arguing Nash is not worthy of his second MVP. In fact, Nash's supporters will say that had a statistically better year this season than last season, when it was clear choice for MVP. Sure, Nash has increased 15.5 points per game last year to 18.8 this year, but last year was last year. More important Moreover, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James were not in the playoffs last year and did not come even close to the size of the stations each had this year. What I am arguing is that other players are more deserving of the award.
On the night of Wednesday, Nash got posterized as no one has seen before. Who was the player Nash abused so horribly that, you ask? Oh, it was Kobe Bryant, one of the leading candidates for MVP and someone more worthy of the honor of Nash. More than just making Nash look like a fool on national television, Bryant dunk in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Lakers over the Suns. This now leads us back to our subject matter.
The Suns could not make the first round of the playoffs. After 93-90 victory for the Lakers on Wednesday night, the series is still in a game in one piece. Now the Lakers are returning to Los Angeles with home court advantage and control of the series. By the way the Lakers are 27-14 at home this year and we all know Kobe is going to turn to another level of the home crowd. If this round is the last stop for the Suns, Nash where does that leave? At home with his MVP trophy, even after he could not beat the seventh-seeded Lakers in the first round. Remember way back when Charles Barkley was actually one of the first MVPs not to win the championship the NBA? That was in 1993 and it seems that years ago. At that time the committee MVP has things well, and even more ironic is that Barkley won the award while playing for the Suns, Nash's current team.
More over, if in fact the Suns lost to the Lakers in the first round, the case grows even stronger than Kobe is the MVP. Do I have to read the long list of accomplishments for you? He scored 35 points per game during the regular season, let alone to get a team to overcome Lakers again in the playoffs with a 45-37 record. And now wanted to get into the second round with a grain of sessions. Without Kobe, this team are already planning for the lottery the draft.
And what about Lebron James? The Cleveland Cavaliers is the fourth seed in the East. Again, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the fourth seed in the East. Do not forget that the Cavs also won 50 games this year. This is an achievement in itself. Do not forget Lebron debut in the playoffs, only scored a triple double against the Wizards. This is exactly why the playoffs that count for MVP voting, because the playoffs are where legends are born.
Do not get me wrong, Nash is a nice player who had a good time. But it is supposed to be MVP of spectacular players who have spectacular seasons. Before answering that question, answer this question. If you take Kobe off the Lakers and away from Nash of the Suns, the team suffers more? The answer to that is the 2006 MVP. I'll give a small track. It is not Steve Nash.
