Village of the Future Begins

Foundation works have been carried out in a major construction project undertaken by Seddon to deliver the facilities world class for the North Staffs YMCA in Stoke-on-Trent.

Under a two-year design stages and construction program, Seddon are renew and redevelop existing facilities in Hanley YMCA to create the new Teen Village – a development that will provide a prepared environment for the 21st century.

With a contract value of about 7 million pounds, Seddon create an international standard, professional sports facilities – including a boxing club reformed – as well as new offices and housing facilities.

The latest in sustainable building techniques are being introduced, including a biomass heating system, green sedum roof and rain water harvesting to be used for toilets.

Low lighting energy is also being introduced, all excavated materials are reused on the site, and all the wood come from sustainable sources

Alan Nixon, chief Seddon, in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, said: "The new Teen Village transform the delivery of services to users in the city and create an environment that represent the best facilities of its kind in Europe. "

A spokesman for the North Staffs YMCA, said: "Adolescent Village is a model project on young specialists focused projects and services that include sports, recreation, housing support and training services.

"It will provide a supportive environment specifically designed to meet the needs and aspirations of young people."
