Consumer Complaint Portals – How Do They Work?
Complaint Portals enable consumers and users of services and products to post their common complaints regarding airline, bank, business, companies and Government and non Government organizations. Users can track car complaints, mobile phone complaints, bank complaints, credit card complaints etc at these websites. Complaint Portals act as forums to share complaints and get them redressed.
Few websites like Consumer Complaints forward complaints to companies and seek resolution. The Companies are prompted to record their responses on the web site and the same is mailed back to the complainant.
There are website which allow consumers to form groups so that they can file class action suits. There are others which put attorneys and complainants together for proceeding with legal action.
Most of the countries have consumer protection law in place. However, companies take a lax attitude towards consumers. They know that consumers can not run to courts every now and then and hence take advantage of the situation.
Maximum number of complaints are against credit card companies and banks. This is followed by travel and vacation operators who might offer the moon while securing customers but offer less than satisfactory service.
Another growing area of complaint is the woes of consumers who get trapped by scamsters online. The online scams including email traps offering lottery wins and transfer of money from abroad keep finding new victims. Phishing mails are dangerous since they prompt users to part with vital bank and credit card information. Download scamsters force users to down load spyware programs camouflaged as useful tools.
The Complaint Portals help to quickly spread news about new scams and useful negative reports about products and services

Bingo Mega Draw/Linda Cole scam?
I recieved a winning notification for the mount of 45,000. I am one of the 52 people who won apparently. I also recieved a check for $2500 which I am supposed to transfer to Mr Philip Smith (1212 90th st Niagara Falls NY) They do not ask for personal information or for any money or fees. They also always answer my phone calls. Is this a scam? The check they sent me is from a company called Austal in Mobile, Al. The Bingo Lottery Company is in Niagara falls NY with a head office in Colleyville TX. I understand that if you are asked to transfer money then its a scam but this is a check that they sent to me. I do not pay anything. The $2500 will be deducted from the $45000. Can anyone help me with this?
Yes, it is a scam.
You are being scammed.
You will lose money.
You might be arrested for being involved in a scam.
Ask yourself a simple question, why do they need YOU to transfer a check to someone else? The reason is simple, the check you received is a fraudulent check. It is worthless. You will deposit it in your bank account and then thinking it has cleared you will send money to someone. Then your bank will call and tell you that the check you deposited was fraudulent and that you owe them $2500. The police will come calling and ask about your involvement in a fraudulent check scheme.
Run away. You have not won anything.
