e-mail said i won lottery…but have to pay courier service to get money…how to find out if legitimate?

i received an e-mail originating from the united kingdom stating i won a lottery…whoever wanted my name, age, phone #, etc. which i provided, i was then contacted by ics courier service uk?, stating they had my cheque (thats the way they spelled it) and if i provide more info including copy of my drivers license and for a substantial fee they would deliver my winnings. Is there any way to verify if this is legitimate or can i report this e-mail to someone who can verify it for me, or possibly report fraud….please help

It’s a scam, period .You didn’t enter a lottery. All you are going to win is an empty bank account and more trouble than you ever dreamed of. Possibly a “courier” bill for a few thousand to “deliver” a “prize” you’ll never see. If you want to bother, forward the fraudulent email to phishing@cc.yahoo-inc.com, spam@uce.gov, and 419.fcd@usss.treas.gov.
