Was there a a Draft before the 1969 Draft lottery, if yes how long did it last and how did it work?

Draft, as indicated above, are the norm for the United States and Many if not Most other Nations. Again as indicated above, the Exception is not to have a draft as now. Many people believe it should be a responsibility of EVERY Citizen to perform some type of National Service in support of their Country.

WWI and WWII a draft registration was inplace.
Go back further and you could pay someone to take your place if you were called up for military service. How things change!
