Is it possible for a store cashier to be dishonest when they check lottery results for a customer?

They have the self check machines that only tell you that you are a winner and when you give that winning ticket to the cashier, they get a print out of what you have won. I was curious if someone hit the jackpot, would there be a way for them to keep the winning ticket and maybe just give you a few bucks saying that was all your ticket had yeilded?

It not just CT, it’s that way everywhere. You’d have to be a complete idiot to get taken.
