What are my chances and when I'll see if I can get a room?

I'm starting college in the fall at Cal State and I am really concerned about housing. I want so badly to live on campus when I start, I do not know if I'll get a bedroom. Does anyone know how it works, because I'm very confused. They say the first round of people is informed by May 1, but how do they choose? Is it a lottery? Also, how did the first that has have submitted their housing application to be considered for the first round? After that I know it's first come-first served, but I'm worried about the initial choice. Please help, no one has been able to give me some idea. Thanks! What if my application for housing in very early April? : (

People should only be really concerned about not getting a house if you are applying late June and July. The concerns at this time, with the first rounds, is where you get placed for housing. If you really have no preference, then there There is nothing to worry about. You can call the housing office, but are overwhelmed at the moment and probably have no idea a lot to offer. Add'l: Even if you applied in early April, usually are doing very well. Many people do not confirm a positive college or are going through mid-April or May.
