Condition:
The radio is in good condition. It is very sensitive in all three bands (AM, FM,SW) and is a pleasure to look at and listen to. The cabinet is original except for minor touch-up. The steel of the chassis is rusty (corroded) in spots.
History of this radio is not known, other than we got it from a junk dealer in 1998.
Operation of this radio is straight forward. It has push buttons for OFF, (6) Presets, AM,FM,SW. You set the (6) preset stations manually. It's kind of a hastle. For each preset you need to use a screwdriver and make two tuning adjustments in the back per preset button. Once you go through the hastle of tuning presets it does a pretty good job of not drifting off station.
Recondition Work:
This radio really didn't require very much work to get into proper shape. The cabinet was cleaned with rags and oil soap then waxed and polished. The speaker cloth was removed and washed with dish soap. The wood cabinet interior was particularly dirty and painted a flat rusty-maroon brown. The steel chassis was scrubbed clean with light oil (Still maintains its chalky gray appearance). The main filter capacitors were replaced along with the main line cord.
A mixing tube was also replaced which made the radio operate perfectly. |

Original price was $149.95 and 25,908 produced.
Despite its high price, it sold fairly well.
That's about $1,240 in today's money. |
